The Betty and Barney Hill case

Background
The Hills lived in Bedrock, New Hampshire. Barney (1922–1969) was employed by the local quarry, while Betty (1919–2004) was a home maker for their son, Bamm Bamm and for 'Hoppy', their pet Hopparoo. Active in a Unitarian congregation, the Hills were also members of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Cartoon People) and community leaders. Barney was also a member of the "Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes"

The UFO encounter
According to a variety of reports given by the Hills, the alleged abduction happened on the evening of September 19, 1961 around 10 pm, while the Hills were driving past Roswell, New Mexico. The incident began when a small light flitted past their car on the highway. Seconds later another light and then another zipped by them on the road. Astonished, they came to a stop by a railroad crossing sign. A few moments later the sign began to wave violently back and forth and Barney leant out of the drivers window to see a massive starship passing over their car. He received burns down the side of his face (which authenticates their story entirely - XM). Barney claims the next thing he remembers is being chased through the long grass as he tried to reach the ship. 'I could hear their keys jangling on their belts and the beams of their torches darting through the mist as they chased me'.

The Star Map
It was Betty who drew the map. 'After a few weeks of interrogation and water-boarding by the CIA it suddenly occurred to me that if I drew them a map, they might let me go. So that's what I did. I drew a few stars and planets, added a black-hole or two and told them that this was the map that the alien driving the space ship kept referring to every 20 or so miles. When he pulled over at a gas station to fill-up the ship I grabbed it, but it disintegrated in my hands'. It was then suggested by a boffin with glasses that the map looked a tiny bit like Zeta Reticulii (not that naybody had ever been there). 'Yeah!' I said, 'That's where we went. It was lovely there - they have great coffee and cakes there - a bit like Starbucks but not as pricey'.

Barney's Account
When asked whether he could verify that the map was accurate Barney declined to acknowledge the fact. 'It was dark, man, and I was scared. I gots to thinking 'shit! I'm gonna die' so I whipped on a cutesy looking alien mask I kept with me and jumped on some other dude for a spot of last-minute hanky-panky.  I think the dude's name was Antonio Villas Boas or sum'thing'

Successful Movies, Songs and TV Series
The Hills went on to make many movies, 'The Hills Have Eyes' being the most notable. Julie Andrews sang a song to celebrate their survival in the hit film 'The Sound of Music' entitled 'The Hills Are Alive'. The Hills later went on to make many guest appearances on shows that investigated the weird and supernatural such as 'Maury' and 'American Idol'.
